February Update Creating Structure
November and December were crazy busy with commissions and events. So, when I returned to my studio in Ukraine earlier this month, it felt like I was starting over. Painting felt unfamiliar and a little daunting.
As most of last year was so disrupted by travelling and the outbreak of the war, It was tough to find consistency day to day or week to week. I spent the first days back in the studio feeling uncertain and lacking confidence and unsure of what to do with myself,
I found as I slipped back into a routine at home with waking, exercising and focusing on the simple things. The problems in the studio started to fall away. I found this interesting as the idea many people have of artists is living wild lives of exploration and adventure to seek out inspiration. Sure lots of inspiration came from travelling last year, but ideas grow from fertile ground. Structure and routine have brought me immense pleasure in the last few weeks and have meant I can turn up at the studio and get drawing, watching ideas appear on the page.
I'm in the early stages of creating a new collection; these drawings will evolve and lead to bigger pieces, which I'll share as they develop. I'll share information on London events as they come closer. Currently, I'm enjoying the creative process.
