Max Ernst: Collage

The surrealist artist, Max Ernst described collage as ‘The systematic exploitation of […] two or more foreign realities on a seemingly incongruous level – and the spark of poetry that leaps across the gap as these two realities are brought together.’

In a world that’s changing so quickly we live in a shifting collage of realities. Our city skylines collage centuries of human achievement in architecture, the media we consume is a collage of images, sounds and video from eclectic sources presented through windows into a digital space. Even each person is an evolving collage of moments, memories and ideas expressing their latest iteration in the present.
