New Works on Paper

I’m excited to share some new pieces I’ve been working on over the last few weeks. I’ve been experimenting, sketching and painting a lot recently and I’m trying to push my work in new directions.

I’m still working with portraits and the idea of representing inner space in an abstract and colourful way. However, I’m taking a step back a bit and expanding the images to show the dream worlds these fragmented figures inhabit.

The world around us shapes our inner world and we in turn shape the world around us based on our internal experience. This painting is a reflection of this process, a portrait of a figure, sitting in their own dreamworld. The abstract forms, symbols and imagery which make up the scene around them are a projection of their fragmented mind.

These pieces form a series of artworks that explore portraiture and dream-like imagery. I am inspired by people, philosophy of mind and psychedelic experience

With each piece, I want to tell a story that celebrates the mystery and strangeness of life and human experience, each with the tension between the real, the surreal and the abstract.

You can view and buy these artworks in my online shop.
